BMW Revealed Their All Electric Self Driving SUV

German car giant BMW have revealed the Vision iNext concept that is due to go on sale in 2021, it’s an all-electric SUV packed with some advanced autonomous tech.

The interior is quite minimalist and features a wooden dashboard as well as some large digital screens. The seats feature a unique cloth upholstery and the front two are separated by a coffee table style centre console. The concept also showcases “shy tech” which is hidden touch controls built into the seats. It’s designed to carry six passengers as the back seats have been extended to accommodate four passengers.

There are three driving modes the car can be in, when it’s in Autonomous mode, the steering wheel can fold away to give the driver more space. The other modes are Boost and Ease but not much information has been released on the final two driving modes.

On the outside, there is a new take on BMW’s bold kidney grille, which was inspired by past models with larger grilles. It has a function though, most of the sensors needed for the autonomous tech are in the grille. There are new slim headlights and a panoramic roof to make the inside seem more spacious and airier. The size of the Vision iNext is similar to BMW’s X5, but it’s a bit bigger in order to accommodate the battery, autonomous tech and the wider back seats.

The only specs released so far are the 0-62mph sprint and range of the battery, it’s expected to complete a 0-62mph run in under four seconds and has a predicted range of around 380 miles.

What do you think if the iNext and autonomous driving?
